The role of a CTO or IT Manager can vary depending on the size of a company. For example, in a small company without a chief information officer, the CTO may also deal with internal IT operations. I served as the sole person responsible for all facets of technology for small businesses through my consultancy. While, technically, NOT “Chief Technology Officer” or “IT Manager”, I bore if not all, most of the responsibilities of those titles.
