Continuing my networking saga, I was able to accomplish in 3 months what it took 3 1/2 years to lobby for in the government sector. That said accolades have to go to the my manager who understood the company and how to fund the project. All I needed to do was design and implement the network. Along with that I established policies and guidelines to protect our information. But all it takes is one person bringing a floppy from home and accidentally booting from it. I steered a 500 employee meeting to stave off any other mishaps. Sadly, overall, the company was on a downward trajectory so I announced my departure. But, before I left the CEO called me up to his office and said “You would be the last one out the door. And that includes me.” High praise from high places, but not worth the risk.
