I created an 800 node network with 14 departmental servers located in a conditioned, secure server room. Accolades have to go to my manager who understood the company and how to fund the project. All I needed to do was design and implement the network. Along with that I established policies and guidelines to protect our information. But all it took was one person bringing a floppy from home and accidentally booting from it. I steered a 500 employee meeting to stave off any other mishaps. Sadly, overall, the company was on a downward trajectory so I announced my departure. But, before I left the CEO called me up to his office and said “If you stay, I promise you, you will be the last one out the door. And that includes me.” High praise from high places, but not worth the risk.
